Take a breath
"Screen time is up" is an inaugural exhibition of the Berlin-based, artist-run exhibition space AP [Artists' Positions]. Borrowing its title from one of the artworks, it was prompted by reflections on the expanding digital world, our relationship with our devices and changing realities. As we are forced to spend even more time on our screens in current situation, questions such as: how does our ability to interact in the physical world get influenced, come to the forefront. 5 different Berlin artists brought together by AP join in exploration of the topic. Each interacts in one way or another with the digital playground in their work, yet each confronting the digital world with the creation of unique and very much physical objects.
[In response to our current situation, the exhibition is being held online, but in order to truly capture the spirit of each work. It was physically installed in space nonetheless.]
"Screen time is up" ist eine Eröffnungsausstellung des in Berlin ansässigen, von Künstlern betriebenen Ausstellungsraums AP [Artist' Positions]. Der Titel ist einem der Kunstwerke entlehnt und wurde von Überlegungen über die sich ausbreitende digitale Welt und unsere Beziehungen zu unseren Geräten und veränderten Realitäten angeregt. In der gegenwärtigen Situation, in der wir gezwungen sind, noch mehr Zeit auf unseren Bildschirmen zu verbringen, treten bestimmte Fragen stärker in den Vordergrund, z.B. wie wird unsere Fähigkeit zur Interaktion in der physischen Welt beeinflusst? 5 verschiedene Berliner Künstler, die von AP zusammengebracht wurden, setzen sich mit dem Thema auseinander. Jeder von ihnen interagiert in seiner Arbeit auf die eine oder andere Weise mit dem digitalen Spielplatz, doch jeder von ihnen konfrontiert die digitale Welt mit der Schaffung einzigartiger und sehr physischer Objekte.
[Als Reaktion auf unsere aktuelle Situation wird die Ausstellung online abgehalten, doch um den Geist jedes Werkes wirklich einzufangen, wurde sie unabhängig davon physisch im Raum installiert.]
