"Drift with the Air"
8.11.2025 - 11.1. 2026
Rich Art Gallery Taichung, Taiwan

"Rich Art Gallery is pleased to present Czech artist Zdenek Konvalina’s first solo exhibition in Taiwan, Drift with the Air, on view from November 8, 2025 to January 11, 2026. Konvalina constructs a fluid realm between reality and perception through painting and installation. Here, “breath” becomes a metaphor for time and existence—a rhythm of gathering and release, motion and stillness—that permeates the exhibition and forms a continuous, organic cycle. Deep tones condense like an inhale, while soft gradients dissipate like an exhale—deep tones for inhale, soft fades for exhale. Each brushstroke and layer of pigment carries the cadence of breathing, making the exhibition itself feel like a complete cycle of breath.

The works derive from Konvalina’s embodied memory as a former dancer and his heightened sensitivity to movement. Layered abstract surfaces, shadows of trees reflecting natural light, and site-specific installations unfold the continuity of breath and the pulse of life in the interplay of light and time. The exhibition space, too, becomes a living body: shifting veils, flowing light, and deliberate intervals between works allow visitors to sense the breathing of space as they drift and move through it. The works resonate with one another and with the surrounding environment, forming an organic circulation where viewing transcends rational observation and becomes an embodied, emotional experience. Time expands, space gains depth, and visitors find themselves attuned to the slow rhythm of the exhibition.

Drift with the Air is not only a poetic response to the rhythm of nature but also an act of re-tuning the body and perception. The exhibition invites visitors to drift and resonate within the interweaving of air, light, and time—to rediscover the expansion of duration and the flow of space. Like a silent loop, each encounter feels like breathing in anew—fluid, vital, and full of life."
